Kurt Gawrisch
Title: Crisis Intervention Team Specialist/Instructor
Kurt comes to MH consultants with 15 years of experience in the mental health field. He has been a member of the Chicago Police Department for over 8 years and is currently assigned to the Education and Training Division as an instructor. Previously he worked in the inner city’s south side as a rapid response/plain clothes officer where he handled high-risk interventions. He was one of the first crisis intervention officer trained for a pilot program in Englewood District on the city’s south side.
Kurt brings valuable knowledge and experience from his prior employment as a clinician and as an educator. As a Program Manager of Emergency services, he implemented a 24-hour emergency service unit. His duties were to provide assessment, linkage to residential crisis care or hospitalization and referral to community mental heath resources upon stabilization. He also developed educational in-services for substance abuse, early childhood intervention and mental retardation.
Kurt Gawrisch holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois.
